Travel ban underway, nearly 100 OIA flights impacted

ORLANDO, Fla. — The travel ban restricting travel to the U.S. from 26 European countries has officially started, and will impact Orlando International Airport over the next several weeks.

The ban will last for the next 30 days once it takes effect at midnight. OIA says, in that time, about 92 incoming flights will be impacted. The U.K. is not included in the ban, and the ban also does not apply to U.S. citizens.

People at the airport Friday afternoon said the ban is a good idea.

“It’s probably necessary so that we can stop it where it’s at, but it’s certainly changing a lot of plans and that’s unfortunate,” said Debbie Hansen, who is flying home from Kansas.
