Police search for car, driver involved in July 4 hit-and-run in downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police released surveillance footage showing a hit-and-run crash on the Fourth of July hoping the public can help them identify the car and driver involved.

Police said around 10:30 p.m. on July 4, a newer model burgundy or red Chevrolet Camaro with a black hood drove south on Orange Avenue near west Amelia Street in downtown Orlando where it then hit several cars that were parked on the right side of the road.

Investigators said surveillance footage shows the driver stop the vehicle momentarily, back it up, and continue driving south, striking more cars and a woman who was standing next to her vehicle.

Police said the woman’s leg was severely injured.

After the crash, police said the Camaro was also seen on video driving through the parking garage of Central Station Apartments, then returning to Amelia Street, and lastly, turning right onto N. Garland Avenue.
