Video: Student brings gun to Jones High School

A 16-year-old boy brought a loaded handgun to Jones High School on Monday, the Orlando Police Department said.

Police said a student and school staff notified a school resource officer about the gun, which the officer discovered on Travis McCaskill.

He was booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center on charges of possession of a firearm on school property and possession of a concealed weapon.

“This is an excellent example of the security that can be accomplished with students, police and school administration work hand in hand to ensure a safe and positive learning environment is maintained,” Orlando police Sgt. David Baker said.
