Thanksgiving travel surge causes traffic headaches at Orlando International Airport

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando International Airport is starting to wind down after the busiest expected day of the Thanksgiving holiday travel season on Saturday.

Airport officials said by the end of the night, more than 170,000 travelers will have passed through the terminals.

And one familiar problem has continued to last all week at the airport: a lack of parking.

Traffic back-ups are a continuing concern where people are going to drop off rental cars and park.

Passengers said they have been arriving hours early, but traffic was at a standstill and parking garages were full.

The airport has been giving updates over the past few days that traffic is backed up and at times, the parking garages have been full.

They’re asking everyone to be patient as thousands of people head home from the holiday.
