Thousands pack downtown Orlando for New Year’s Eve

ORLANDO, Fla. — Thousands packed downtown to ring in 2020, and a new decade.

Before the sun even set, people were showing up to see the orange dropped for the 20th year.

“This is what we call our Super Bowl of the year,” said Church Street Bar general manager Pete Ghalam. “We gear up for it all year.”

In honor of the new decade, many people dressed up in 1920s fringe, sequins and dapper hats. But there was no prohibition as there was plenty of alcohol for purchase, and police out in force to keep a watchful eye.
