Trailblazing Black women in Florida honored at ‘Women on The Move’ awards

WINTER PARK, Fla. — Twenty-two of Florida’s most influential Black women were honored with ONYX Magazine’s Women on The Move awards on Friday.

The awards celebration honored trailblazing Black women across the state during Women’s History Month.

Channel 9′s News Director Tina Commodore was one of the honorees at the event.

Organizers said the honorees have achieved big success while shattering glass ceilings in their professions and persevering against the odds.

The event featured inspiring speeches from some outstanding women.

Friday’s event also paid tribute to the tireless work of caregivers and front-line workers during the pandemic.

It also recognized the thousands of ways women of all cultures have provided healing and hope throughout history.
