Orange, Osceola Circuit Court enacts mask mandate for all facilities

ORLANDO, Fla. — Visitors to all Orange and Osceola County courthouse facilities will be required to wear some type of face covering, effective Monday.

Extra masks will be available for those who need them.

Officials from the Ninth Circuit Court, which serves Orange and Osceola Counties, cite the recent rise in COVID cases locally and the high transmission rate of the Delta variant as the reason for the mandate.

Masks will be required in all public areas, courthouses, and other court facilities.

They’re also asking anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last two weeks to avoid going to the courthouse.

The announcement comes days after Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings declared a local state of emergency due to the recent surge in COVID-19 infections.

While announcing the state of emergency, Demings also urged all Orange County residents to resume wearing masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
