Orlando leaders to host virtual meeting to discuss COVID-19 impact on black communities, businesses

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — On Thursday, the Orange County Democratic Black Caucus and local leaders will host a virtual community meeting to talk about reopening businesses and local facilities and what it means for African American communities.

“We're talking about some of the things that affect black communities right now when it's related to COVID-19,” District 5 Commissioner Regina Hill said.

Hill said many businesses in Parramore are barely staying afloat.

“We have been following the CDC guidelines and now we are at phase two of opening up, and it’s very essential because many of our small minority businesses are just a paycheck away from bankruptcy,” she said.

During the meeting, the committee will explain why more testing is needed on Orlando’s west side.
