Bomb squad clears suspicious vehicle, luggage in mall parking lot

ORLANDO, Fla. — Channel 9 was there when the bomb squad was called to the Fashion Square Mall on Tuesday to investigate a suspicious vehicle parked outside the Macy's at Orlando Fashion Square mall.

According to police, a man parked the car and immediately left the area. He was located nearby and officers said he was acting suspicious and couldn't explain why he parked there or what was in it.

The department store and its parking lot were evacuated as crews assessed the vehicle and pulled two orange suitcases from the trunk of the car.

Authorities said there were electronic items found in luggage but the Orlando Fire Department was not able to determine what they were.

The suspect is not cooperating and has been sent for mental evaluation, authorities said.

The scene has since been cleared. No injuries were reported.
