Orlando police arrest teen after slew of burglaries

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police have arrested a teenager they said is responsible for a slew of home burglaries in the Carver Shores and Richmond Heights neighborhoods.

After investigating the area for a few months, police named 17-year-old Spencer James Thompson as a suspect.

Detectives charged Thompson in 19 burglaries.

He’s currently being held in a juvenile detention center on multiple charges of burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief.

“They threw a brick through the window,” said one victim, who didn’t want to be identified.

Police won’t say exactly how they caught Thompson, only that he became a suspect during the months-long investigation.

“My X-Box, my brother’s Playstation, my brother’s shoes, my mom’s computer,” said a victim. “(He) went through all my drawers.”

Investigators said Thompson lived close to the homes he allegedly burglarized.

“He needs to know and understand the consequences of what he’s done. People work hard,” said another victim, who also did not want to be identified.

Detectives are working to figure out if Thompson is connected to any other crimes.
