Orlando soldier receives Purple Heart

Fort Bliss, Texas — A U.S. Army Reserve soldier from Orlando received a Purple Heart for injuries he received while serving in Afghanistan last year.

Staff Sgt. Nathan Robbins was awarded the medal in a ceremony last week at the Warrior Transition Unit at Fort Bliss, Texas.

The medal was presented by Brig. Gen. Douglas R. Satterfield.

Robbins serves with the 689^th Engineer Company, 841^st Battalion, 926^th Engineer Brigade.

Robbins is a native of San Francisco, but moved to Orlando to join the 689^th in 2007.
