Osceola County didn’t qualify for CARES Act funding; where officials say help could come from

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The $2 trillion package from the federal CARES Act only approved funding for certain counties, which didn’t include Osceola County.

State Sen. Joe Gruters said he thinks it's likely another bill could come down the pipeline that helps smaller counties like Osceola.

Orange County was among a dozen Florida counties large enough to receive a direct payment from the CARES Act. The rest didn’t qualify because their population is less than 500,000.

Osceola County is slated to get more than $900,000 in community development block grant funds from the CARES Act, but those dollars won’t be available until late June.
