Osceola County fugitive arrested in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies arrested Jeffry McCoy, 42, near John Young Parkway and State Road 408 Wednesday afternoon.

Heavy sheriff presence was seen following the capture of McCoy.

McCoy was wanted on a felony warrant for property crimes in Osceola County, deputies said.

“This guy is a threat to the community,” said Angelo Nieves, with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

McCoy was spotted at a home Wednesday afternoon in Orange County, and deputies, with the help of Osceola County deputies, tried to arrest him.

McCoy is accused of crashing his vehicle into three Osceola County sheriff deputy vehicles during the attempted arrest and fleeing the scene.

"This suspect is dangerous. He is someone that was wanted for committing crimes in Osceola County. He also threatened to harm himself and law enforcement if confronted," Nieves said.

McCoy was able to make it to the turnpike and later crashed his vehicle at John Young Parkway and State Road 408 in Orange County.

He crashed into a driver and was apprehended around 2 p.m. and taken to the hospital with minor injuries from the crash.

The other driver wasn't hurt.

McCoy faces attempted murder charges of the three Osceola County deputies, aggravated assault and fleeing and eluding.
