American Red Cross teams up with Saint Cloud Fire Rescue to install free smoke alarms

ST. CLOUD, Fla. — The American Red Cross and Saint Cloud Fire Rescue teamed up Saturday to make sure residents have working smoke alarms.

They went door to door installing free smoke alarms in Saint Cloud homes.

They also educated people about fire safety.

Smoke alarms should be placed on each level of a home, including inside and outside bedrooms and sleeping areas.

Officials said to help protect their home, residents should test their smoke alarms each month and practice an escape plan until everyone who lives in the home can get out in less than two minutes.

This is all part of the American Red Cross’ “Sound the Alarm” campaign, which was launched nearly a decade ago.
