PALM BAY, Fla. — Palm Bay’s red-light cameras are history.
On Thursday, Palm Bay City Council members voted four to one to remove the cameras from three intersections off Malabar Road.
Last year, the city wrote more than 1,900 tickets, but Palm Bay police told the council there was no conclusive evidence that the cameras improved safety.
“If I believed in any way, shape, or form that these cameras were improving the safety of residents, as opposed to costing them money, I would fight to keep them,” said councilwoman Kristine Isnardi.
The cameras will be removed by Sunday.
