Palm Coast man accused of killing landlord

PALM COAST, Fla. — A man faces murder charges after his 76-year-old landlord was killed in a dispute over rent and living arrangements.

Deputies said Erick Niemi, 42, killed Leonard Lynn on Wednesday in the home on Ryken Lane.
 
Lynn's family said they became suspicious Saturday after being unable to reach him. They called Flagler County Sheriff's deputies who went to Lynn's home. They were unable to make contact with anyone and noted no signs of forced entry.
 
Relatives arrived later Saturday and saw blood on the floor. They called deputies, who found Lynn's body in the bedroom.
 
Neighbors told deputies they'd seen Niemi at the home. Lynn's minivan was found parked in front of Niemi's home a few blocks away and he was arrested.
 
Niemi was being held in jail early Monday.
