Woman struck, killed by car in Apopka

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was struck and killed by a car in Orange County late Wednesday night.

The crash happened on Plymouth-Sorrento Road in Apopka.

Ronald Bateman, 18, hit Kimberly Torrey as she was walking northbound on the road, troopers said.

FHP troopers said Bateman was passing another car when he hit Torrey.

Authorities said Torrey collided with a tree and some plastic garbage cans.

She died at the scene, troopers said.

The investigation and charges are pending.
