Pedestrian struck, killed by train in Lake Mary

LAKE MARY, Fla. — Police still have not identified a man who was killed after being struck by a train in Lake Mary on Monday afternoon.

The accident happened on Old Lake Mary Road about two blocks from the police department.

Lake Mary police said the Amtrak train was headed northbound to Sanford with hundreds of passengers onboard when the victim threw himself in front the train.

Authorities said the conductor spotted the man and tried to stop, but it was too late.

No passengers were injured in the accident.
