Pilot extinguishes fire on plane after landing in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — A plane is being inspected at Orlando International Airport after a pilot spotted a small fire outside the windshield of the plane after landing at Orlando International Airport on Thursday.

Jet Blue Flight 1706 was headed to Orlando from Santo Domingo when the pilot noticed a flame on the front exterior of the plane shortly after landing.

The pilot was able to put the fire out with an onboard fire extinguisher before taxiing to the gate.

Sharon Jones with Jet Blue said local fire department met the aircraft on the scene and cleared it to proceed to the gate.

Jones said the plane continued on its own power to the gate where customers disembarked normally.

No passengers were hurt.
