Police arrest Orlando church volunteer accused of exposing himself to teen girl

ORLANDO, Fla. — Police said a man was working with children as a volunteer at an Orlando church when he allegedly exposed himself to a young girl.

WFTV found out he was already on probation for doing the same thing to other children one year ago.

Now, investigators are looking for any other possible victims of Gentry Barolet.

Barolet was an active member at the First Alliance Church on Lake Underhill Road.

Court records said he pleaded with the victim not to tell her mother what happened, because he didn’t want to go back to jail.

WFTV’s legal analyst said while Barolet is out jail, he’ll likely go back without bond for violating his probation.

“He exposed himself and asked her to touch him,” said Sgt. Lovetta Quinn-Henry with the Orlando Police Department.

Investigators with the Special Victims Unit said Baroley continued to text message the victim nude pictures of himself.

He was arrested Thursday.

A pastor at the church, where Barolet lead Bible study and chaperoned field trips, wouldn’t comment, but Barolet’s neighbors had plenty to say.

“They need to be making sure these people are vetted and they’re checking their backgrounds,” said Helen Scholler.

Last July, Barolet was arrested after deputies said he was exposing and touching himself inside his gold Saturn, in front of young girls at a park.

“It poses a concern to the Police Department when anyone is in a place where children will congregate, especially given a past such as his,” said Quinn-Henry.

Barolet’s wife did not comment about the new allegations.

Police said churches are not required by law to do background checks.
