Police donate puppy to family whose boxer was killed by burglar

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Police Department raised money for a family whose dog was killed during a burglary.

Police held a car wash Saturday to cover the costs of a boxer puppy named Willow, which they gave to the family.

The family lost their dog, Wilson, in their College Park home in January.

Investigators said Leonardo Turull, 22, killed Wilson while burglarizing the family’s home.

Officers said Turull also burglarized three other homes.

Turull was arrested on burglary charges, but so far, hasn't been charged with killing Wilson.

"I think everyone involved is just an animal lover, and I think everyone felt so bad for the family, so they just wanted to do something to help out," said Deputy Chief John Mina of the Orlando Police Department.

The rest of the money raised will be donated to the Florida Boxer Rescue.
