ORLANDO, Fla. — Nine years after she vanished, the family of an Orlando woman continues to search for answers in her disappearance.
Michelle Parker was last seen on Nov. 17, 2011.
Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolón, along with Parker’s family, held a press conference Tuesday morning to revisit the case and provide an update on detectives' efforts to locate the missing mom.
Watch the news conference below:
Parker, age 33 at the time of her disappearance, was last seen after dropping off her young twins with their father, Dale Smith Jr., at his S. Goldenrod Road home in Orlando, according to police.
Investigators later reported they recovered Parker’s vehicle on the west side of Orlando with the decal for her business scraped off the window. They also said her cell phone was recovered submerged in a lake south of Orlando.
Before she vanished, Parker appeared on an episode of “The People’s Court” with her ex-fiancé, Smith Jr. Soon after, police named Smith a suspect in her disappearance. Their rocky relationship was brought up on the show.
Detectives said Smith was watching the show when Parker dropped the twins off at his home that day. She drove off and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
“What can you think?” said Gayle Parker. “They found her phone under a bridge. Under the bridge, they also found her vehicle near Millenia Mall. The police named Dale as the prime suspect. What else can we think?”
Smith was never arrested. He moved to Tennessee with the twins years ago. According to the Parkers, they now live in Geneva, Florida.
“We don’t want to make accusations,” said Gayle Parker. “We just want the truth.”
Investigators said they need more leads. They’ve worked every angle. They want to close the case with an arrest and to bring closure to the Parker family.
Anyone with information about Parker’s disappearance is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-423-TIPS.
