Teen arrested for attempted home invasion, shooting

OCOEE, Fla.,None — Ocoee police say an 18-year-old has been arrested for allegedly shooting a homeowner through his front door in an attempted home invasion Friday evening.

The incident happened at a home on Plumgrass Circle in Ocoee shortly before 9:00 p.m., police say.

18-year-old Tyree Spratt was arrested Saturday morning and charged with attempted murder and attempted robbery, among other charges. Police say they are still working to identify the other suspect involved in the incident.

Investigators say Spratt and another suspect rang the doorbell and tried to force their way inside when the homeowner opened the door. The homeowner tried stop them by closing the door, and police say that's when he was shot once through the door.

The suspects fled from the home in a silver compact vehicle after the shooting, according to police. Investigators located what they believe to be an abandoned getaway vehicle in a nearby subdivision.

The homeowner was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Police say he is expected to survive.

Officials say the investigation remains ongoing. The homeowner's identity has not be released.

Spratt remains booked in the Orange County jail and will face a judge for his first appearance Sunday morning.
