Police identify man's body found in Ormond Beach home

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — The Ormond Beach Police Department confirmed that the body found inside a home on Fox Hunter Flat last week is that of Christian Schroeder, 61.

Identification was made through dental records, police said.

However, police said they are still waiting for the results of the autopsy.

On Tuesday, Tallahassee police told investigators in Ormond Beach that they had found the victim's son, Garrett Schroeder, 22, in a car, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Garrett Schroeder was a suspect in Christian Schroeder's death.

A local Daytona Beach  paper reported that the father and son had a rocky relationship, with the elder Schroeder obtaining an injunction for protection last year. The documents described Garrett Schroeder's increasing "anger and odd behavior."

WFTV searched jail records and found that Schroeder had been arrested in 2014 on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after he allegedly attacked his mother with a hammer. Authorities believe the suspect had a rocky past with both his mother and father.
