Police issued rifle stolen in West Melbourne car burglary

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. — West Melbourne police are investigating a series of car burglaries in which a police rifle was stolen.

According to Melbourne police, a detective’s unmarked car was parked outside a home in the Timber Ridge Subdivision Saturday when it was broken into.

Police say during the burglary the detective’s department-issued rifle was taken.

West Melbourne police are investigating the stolen rifle along with several other car burglaries that happened at the same time.

Investigators said they are working to identify any suspects and ask anyone with information to call the Melbourne Police Department at 321-608-6893, or Crime Line at 800-423TIPS.
