Men in Spider-Man, hunting masks rob Altamonte Springs 7-Eleven

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Altamonte Springs police are searching for two masked men who stormed into a 7-Eleven and robbed it at gunpoint.

Police said the men, one wearing a Spider-Man mask and the other a hunting mask, went in the Lake Destiny Road store about 12:30 a.m. on March 4, and one of them put a rifle to the clerk's back and forced her to go to the safe.

When the clerk told the men she couldn't open the safe, one of the men threw her to the ground, police said.

"The black male suspect with the rifle points it at her, demands she opens the safe," said Officer Rob Pelton. "As we all know, the clerks can't open those safes. They are time drop safes."

According to police, a second clerk was forced to open the cash registers so the men could get money from them.

Police said the robbers took money from the registers, then fled in a dark-colored vehicle that had tinted windows.

The convenience store sits along busy Interstate 4, but the road in front is quiet at night, authorities said.

Still, one customer walked in on the robbery. He saw what was happening and then backed up as the gunmen ran out the door.
