SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — Police looking for distraught man missing in Satellite Beach

Satellite Beach police are looking for a missing Georgia man whose personal belongings were found on Hightower Beach.

Police said a friend of Jeremy Tyler Knauff, 28, called them to check on Knauff after a phone call with the man, who drove to Florida from the Atlanta area.

According to police, the man said he last had contact by phone with Knauff early Tuesday evening and that Knauff made remarks about being distraught over a recent breakup.

Officers said they found Knauff's rental car in the parking lot of the Hightower Beach access at State Road A1A and Shearwater Drive.

They also said they found his cellphone and car keys on the beach.

Investigators believe Knauff may have gone into the ocean.

Police said a number of agencies, including the Coast Guard, have participated in the search for Knauff.

Knauff is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds.

Police are asking that anyone who may have come in contact with Knauff on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Hightower Beach access in Satellite Beach, particularly between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., please call the Satellite Beach Police Department at 321-773-4400
