Man shot in head during altercation in Altamonte Springs

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — One of two men was shot during an altercation in Altamonte Springs, police said.

The incident happened in the parking lot of the Oaks of Spring Valley apartments on Wymore Road.

"He did have a gunshot wound to the head, which is not life-threatening," said Officer Robert Pelton of the Altamonte Springs Police Department.

Investigators said the two men were walking to a car when they got into a fight.

That's when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other man in the head, police said.

"I pulled up, pulled my car over and I see police running all over the place, and I ran in my house because bullets ain't got names for nobody," said neighbor Theresa Keels.

The names of the men involved were not released.

"We have pretty good leads on the direction the person traveled and hopefully that will help us in the future to determine where this person's at," said Pelton.

Police said the victim is expected to survive.
