Police search for gun they said woman used to shoot, kill daughter

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Police are still searching for a gun that they said a Winter Haven woman used to shoot and kill her daughter Tuesday.

Winter Haven police said they are offering a reward for "information regarding the location of a firearm used in the shooting death of Ruby Bing."

Ruby Bing, 25, was shot and killed while holding her 4-month-old baby outside her mother's residence, according to police.

Police said Adele Bing, 52, said she thought it was her boyfriend, with whom she had a violent argument earlier in the day, at the door.

According to police, Adele Bing, armed with a baseball bat and handgun, opened the door and fired a shot, hitting her daughter in the chest.

Adele Bing is charged with second-degree murder and child abuse without great bodily harm.

Police said they have not found any evidence of any turmoil between the woman and her daughter.

The 4-month-old child was not injured.

Bing is being held in the Polk County Jail.

Police ask that anyone with information about the gun's location call Detective Charles Bolton at 863-651-3028.
