Police: Woman kidnapped, robbed as she arrived at work

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Police are searching for a man who kidnapped a Winter Park woman shortly after she arrived at work and made her drive to an ATM to take out money.

Winter Park police said the 25-year-old victim had just arrived at work around 7:30 a.m. to open the Timken radiology office on Lee Road when she was accosted in the parking lot.

She got into a scuffle with the robber, and she injured her lip and shoulder, police said.

"He hit me in the mouth, threw me to the ground, and took my purse to get my keys. (He) got in my car and pulled me by the hair into the car," the victim told the 911 operator.

The victim told police the attacker drove her Toyota Camry to an ATM, forced her to withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash and then forced her to continue to ride with him in the vehicle.

"He drove around in the area a little bit, trying to get her lost. Finally stopping the car, he got out. She responded back over here (the radiology office), and called us," said Winter Park police Sgt. Jamie Loomis.

Police said the victim could not tell them where the robber got out or give them enough details for a composite sketch. They said there is no security video from the ATM.

The man was described as a tall, scruffy, African-American wearing a long-sleeved black shirt that was covered by a short-sleeved black shirt, khaki pants and a knit cap.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the Winter Park Police Department.
