Polk Co. Marine killed in Nevada explosion

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A Polk County Marine was one of the seven killed during a live-fire training exercise in Nevada.

Lance Corporal David Fenn, II, 20, from Polk City, was killed in an explosion at the Hawthorne Army Depot on Monday night.

Marines were launching mortars when the small bomb detonated in the firing tube, causing the deadly explosion.

The ammo in question was suspended worldwide while the incident is investigated.
