Polk County man accused of exposing himself to McDonald’s drive-thru cashier

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A Polk County man is accused of exposing himself to a juvenile McDonald’s cashier in the restaurant’s drive-thru.

Deputies said in late September, Charlie Cook Jr., 34, of Lakeland, placed an order at the McDonald’s and proceeded through both drive-thru windows. Investigators said Cook Jr. then went through the line again, this time exposing himself to the cashier at the second window while calling her by the name on her name tag.

Deputies said employees couldn’t identify Cook Jr. at the time, but recognized him as a regular customer. They said when he returned to the restaurant two weeks later, they took down his name from his debit card and noted his license plate number.

Cook Jr. was arrested on Tuesday and charged with indecent exposure and committing a lewd act. Deputies said he was released on a $750 bond.

Deputies said Cook Jr. admitted that he committed the lewd act. His criminal history includes a 2014 arrest for battery domestic violence, and a 2017 arrest for transmission of material harmful to a minor and use of a two-way communication device to commit a felony.

Deputies said the 2017 arrest was made during a Polk County Sheriff’s Office undercover investigation.

“We previously arrested Charlie Cook during an undercover child pornography investigation - he was sending nude images to a 15-year-old girl he met as a youth leader at a church. Now here he is again, trying to groom and solicit a child,” Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. “He clearly wasn’t rehabilitated or held accountable back in 2017, but we will do everything in our power to ensure he is held accountable now.”
