Polk triple murder suspect told 911 world under evil control

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — In audio tapes released to various media outlets from the 911 call of Polk County triple-murder suspect David Smith to a Tennessee dispatcher, Smith said the world was under evil control.

Smith called 911 from a Tennessee motel room on May 27. He said he was wanted for murder in Polk County and admitted killing his sister and two others. He also said he had a .40-caliber rifle and was ready to die. He said his blood would cleanse the world or start World War III.

According to an account of the recordings in the Knoxville News Sentinel Smith told the dispatcher he was bipolar and not taking his medication.

SWAT officers found Smith suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
