Port Orange day care burglary suspect caught

PORT ORANGE, Fla. — A man accused of being a serial burglar is behind bars. Police said one of the people he's accused of stealing from helped catch him.

Port Orange police finally identified Nicholis Munion as the man in a surveillance video of a day care burglary.

Investigators said they believe he's hit the Montessori Magic day care multiple times. They said Munion didn't steal much, but he did a lot of damage.

"It's more the damage. They come in, and while looking for stuff, they're just ransacking -- the dumping of the files, going through things," said Jenylyn Fisher from Montessori Magic.

Fisher told Channel 9 two weeks ago about security cameras she installed in hopes of catching the repeat thief. She said her business has been broken into five times in less than a year.

"I feel really relieved. It's just ridiculous that it took this many times before something happened," said Fisher.

Fisher said that unfortunately, money that was supposed to go towards a new playground had to be spent on security cameras.

"I had to go to some lengths to just protect myself and my property and stuff like that, which was very costly on our end, which is sad. It's a preschool. Why would I need to put a whole security system in?" said Fisher.

But the spending paid off, at least in the form of an arrest. Fisher said a detective called on Friday to give her the good news.

Munion is charged in the Montessori case and with two other break-ins.
