• Pregnant woman killed in overnight crash in Osceola County

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. - A pregnant woman and her unborn child were killed in a crash in Osceola County early Thursday morning that was caused by a 17-year-old driver, authorities said.

Investigators said Vanessa Sanchez, of St. Cloud, had been to church and the movies, then delivered food to a friend, but was apparently confused about how to get home. They said she ran the stop sign at the intersection of Pine Grove Road and U.S. 192, T-boning Kristen Wright’s car, causing it to flip.

Wright, 23, of St. Cloud, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Friends of Wright told Channel 9 she was seven months pregnant and looking forward to having her baby boy she planned to name Julius.

“It's sad (Sanchez’s) careless acts took a friend and family member, someone important to a lot of people, someone really, really special as a person,” said Wright’s friend, Caroline Aston.

Sanchez and an 18-year-old passenger that was with her are expected to be OK.

So far, no charges have been filed against Sanchez, but troopers said as a 17-year-old, she wasn't supposed to be driving past 1 a.m.
