Alleged gunman in Sanford double shooting turns self in

SANFORD, Fla. — Sanford police said the suspected gunman in a double shooting near Santa Barbara Drive has been arrested.

Police said two people were hit by gunfire at the Lake Jennie apartment complex near Seminole High School on Thursday.

Investigators said Timothy Boykins was found lying on the ground in the parking lot of the complex, while being held by other residents and bleeding from the face. Boykins had been shot in his right eye and was conscious and slightly speaking, said police.

Several minutes later, a second victim, later identified as Ricky Bryson, was located in the area of Santa Barbara Drive and Hartwell Avenue. Bryson also had a gunshot wound in the face, that was not fatal.

Both victims are said to be in serious condition at a nearby hospital.

Shortly after the shooting, Sanford police said they identified Moease Brooks, 24, as the shooter. Brooks turned himself in at the Seminole County Jail Monday night.
