Police identify 16-year-old fatally shot on front patio in Sanford

SANFORD, Fla. — A 16-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in Sanford on Thursday evening, according to police.

Officers responded to a 911 call just after 6:30 p.m. reporting shots fired at a home in the 200 block of Hays Drive.

Responding officers arrived to find Jaitoryon McNair, 16, on the front patio suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Police said they’re looking for a black, four-door sedan that was traveling north on Hays Drive at the time of the shooting.

Investigators said the vehicle turned west on Anderson Circle before fleeing the area.

Officers are asking anyone with information about the vehicle to contact the police department or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. Anyone who gives a tip that lead to an arrest is eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000.

A spokesperson for the Sanford Police Department described the shooting as an “isolated” incident, saying McNair and possible suspect or suspects appear to have been known to each other.
