ORLANDO, Fla. — A Sarasota couple has turned their personal vehicle into a mobile tribute to the 49 people who were killed last year in the Pulse nightclub attack.
Jeanine Goodnough and Wally Goodnough said they didn't know any of the victims, but they still felt moved to honor those killed in the June 12, 2016, attack.
"It's about remebering the survivors, honoring the vicitms, and coming together to let Orlando know that although we didn't know anyone, it still affected us," Jeanine Goodnough said. "And we reach out to do what we can to help the community heal."
The car features 49 heart-shaped decals that bear the names of the victims and their photos. It also has 53 smaller decals honoring survivors who were injured in the shootings.
The Goodnoughes said they hope the tribute causes passing motorists to remember those impacted by last year's massacre.
The couple said that in the coming weeks they'll deliver a 300-pound glass monument to Orlando.
Each victim's name is engraved in the monument.
