Tractor-trailer, pickup collide on Turnpike in Osceola

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A multi-vehicle crash on the Turnpike in Osceola County near the Canoe Creek rest area had the southbound and northbound lanes closed Tuesday, but they have since reopened, according to troopers.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a double tandem tractor-trailer and a pickup truck towing a trailer loaded with another pickup truck collided, causing the tractor-trailer to overturn and block the southbound lanes.

FHP said the man driving a tried to pull over because it was having problems with its lights.

But because of the fog, FHP said the tractor-trailer semi driver couldn't see the vehicles pulled over and ran into them. The tractor-trailer then flipped on its side and over a guardrail.

Two people were in the pickup and one in was in the tractor-trailer, troopers said.

The drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The names of the drivers were not released.

Investigators said charges are pending.
