Search continues for missing Marion man with diminished mental capacity

Search crews have covered 95 square miles of land looking for John Radabaugh Jr.

Radabaugh wandered away from his Ocklawaha home on Tuesday. Investigators said the 48-year-old man has the mental capacity of a 3-year-old child.

"I am worried about everything.  I am just hoping he is OK," said John Radabaugh Sr., father of the missing man.

He said he is concerned for the safety of his son.

According to Radabaugh Sr., he and his son were working in their yard on Tuesday when he stepped into the house for five minutes to take a phone call. He said when he came back outside, his son was gone.

More than 100 volunteers and several agencies have been involved in the three-day search.

On Friday, search crews set up a map sectioned off in grids; crews on foot, in boats and with search-and-rescue dogs, were each assigned an area.

"We are hoping that he was able to survive the night and that he is out there and we are going to find him," said Capt. James Pogue of the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Searchers have been particularly concerned for Radabaugh's well-being because of cold nighttime temperatures in the area.
