Second suspect in 2013 Orange County homicide arrested in the Dominican Republic

ORLANDO, Fla. — A second suspect in the 2013 killing of 21-year-old Michael Ault has been caught in the Dominican Republic and will soon be back in Orange County to face charges in the case, officials said.

Ault was killed in a robbery on Constantie Street. Jonpaul Gonzalez was arrested for his murder and is now spending life in prison.

Eddie Viteri-Perez, 23, had been on the run until investigators got a tip and tracked him down in the Dominican Republic, authorities said.

Ault’s mother, Jennifer Sanders, sat through Gonzalez’s trial and is now planning to do the same for Viteri-Perez’s.

While she is happy that the second suspect in her son’s death is in custody, Sanders said she feels for his family.

“To be honest, I also have empathy for Eddie’s family and for his mother, who also is feeling pain, I’m sure,” Sanders said, noting it was a different type of pain, though. “She still can see her son and hug her son and visit him. But I feel empathy for both families.”

Viteri-Perez is being held in Miami, but is expected to return to Orlando next week.
