SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A Longwood nonprofit organization is giving the gift of mobility to students in Seminole County.

Chair the Love donated 85 wheelchairs to the Seminole County Public Schools on Wednesday.

“It ensures that every campus has a wheelchair and it ensures that campuses that may not have the budget to be able to provide those or eliminate that potential budget line item to be able to ensure that temporary mobility is resolved,” the organization’s president, Jason Debono, said.

If the district bought the chairs, it would have cost around $10,000.

“This will go a long way to help serve the mobility needs of our student population the children that are most challenged in our school district,” school board chair Karen Almond said.

Thanks to the donation, each high school will get an additional wheelchair to support students in the athletic department who may be unable to get around due to an injury.
