SANFORD, Fla. — Police questioned two people after a man in his late 20s was shot in the hip Wednesday afternoon, the Sanford Police Department said.
The shooting was reported shortly after 4 p.m. at South Bay Avenue and East Ninth Street.
Police said the man is undergoing surgery at Central Florida Regional Hospital, but they did not specify his condition.

“When I heard the shots, I came out and this officer was on his knees, copressing the wounds and saving this young man’s life,” said Harry Sanders, a nearby resident.
Investigators said they followed a vehicle into Orange County. They were able to get the car to stop on I-4 near Colonial Drive.
They said two people who were in the car are being questioned in connection with the shooting. They did not give any information on a possible motive, and no further information was released on the people inside the car.

Taylor Wilcox lives with her 2- and 8-year-old children near where the man was shot.
“I just feel like it’s too frequent out here, that you see stuff like that,” she said.
