UPDATE: Work on Red Bug Lake Road continues after car hits fire hydrant causing washout

CASSELBERRY, Fla. — 2:25 p.m. update: The county said crews remain on-site at Red Bud Lake Road near Rollingwood Loop, where a roadway washout is being remediated.

Work is expected to continue through mid-evening Friday. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

5 a.m. update: Crews said they are continuing to make repairs on Red Bug Lake Road near Rollingwood Loop.

The road is now partially open to allow traffic in both directions.

Seminole County officials are asking drivers to seek alternate routes if possible.

Update: Red Bug Lake Road will remain closed overnight and through the morning while crews work to repair and repave after a washout at Rollingwood Loop, firefighters said.

Red Bug Lake Road is closed in both directions in Casselberry Thursday evening after a vehicle hit a fire hydrant, causing flowing water to washout to the surrounding area, Seminole County Fire Department said.

Eastbound and westbound Red Bug Lake Road is closed in both directions between Rollingwood Loop and Copperfield Terrace.

County officials said the closure will remain in place overnight Thursday and through Friday morning as crews work to repave the washout.

A boil notice has been sent out to all affected residents.
