Shark bites boy, 15, at New Smyrna Beach

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A shark bit a 15-year-old Atlantic Beach boy Saturday afternoon off the coast of New Smyrna Beach, Volusia County Beach Safety said.

The boy was bitten shortly before 6 p.m. about 75 yards off shore near the New Smyrna Beach jetty, officials said.

The boy, who had minor cuts on his foot, was brought to a hospital as a precaution

Officials said this was the county’s second shark bite this year.
