• Officials: Men tell bus driver bomb was on Leesburg bus; Nothing found

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - The Lake County Sheriff's Office said it investigated a bomb threat involving a LakeXpress bus Thursday.

Investigators said two men on bikes told a bus driver in Mt. Dora that there was a bomb on a bus in Leesburg, and then rode off. The driver called his supervisors and they contacted deputies.

The threat forced Leesburg police and the Lake County Sheriff's Office to evacuate the bus and the shopping plaza where it was parked, authorities said.

The bomb squad was called in and searched eight buses, several in Leesburg and two others in the Eustis area, but investigators didn't find anything.

"Most of the time, these things are a hoax, but it's that one time that it's not that you can't risk," said James Vachon of the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said they don't know if the men on the bikes were worried about a bomb on a bus or just pulling a hoax, but investigators want to talk to them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
