Man, teenage girl injured in possible road-rage shooting on turnpike near Winter Garden

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of a gray Toyota Camry troopers say shot at two people on Florida's Turnpike near Winter Garden Saturday morning.

The turnpike's southbound lanes were shut down near mile marker 272, just north of the exit to Colonial Drive, while officials responded to the shooting, troopers said.

A 37-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman in a Chevy Impala were shot at by someone in the Camry around 10:15 a.m., troopers said. No bullets directly hit the pair, but fragments caused minor injuries, officials said.

Both victims are from Miami and were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center by ground with minor injuries from bullet fragments, troopers said.

Preliminary information indicates this was an alleged road-rage shooting, troopers said.

Troopers said the car was shot 12 times.

The crash is still under investigation.
