Shoppers pack outlet mall on Christmas Day

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Premium Outlets decided to open its stores to shoppers for the first time ever on Christmas Day.

Traffic getting onto the property was heavily backed up and crowds of shoppers packed stores on Wednesday. Management at the outlets said there's a big demand from international travelers to shop on Christmas and they wanted to capitalize on it.

"We're usually at home with the family, so we wouldn't usually go out shopping. But since we're on vacation it's nice to have everything open," tourist Luc Poitras said.

After the holidays, outlet mall officials said they'll find out if opening on Christmas was profitable enough to do it again in 2014.
