Some much-needed rain should pass over Central Florida for Easter weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. — Parts of western Orange County received over 2.5 inches of rain Friday evening as slow-moving seabreeze downpours brought more rain in these areas than Orlando has seen all year.

Chief Meteorologist Tom Terry said we’ll see a few more afternoon storms for the Easter weekend, but big weather pattern changes arrive Sunday with clouds and showers.

And temperatures will only be in the 70s with winds gusting over 30 mph at the coast by Monday.

High surf, coastal flooding, and overall very rough conditions are expected starting late Sunday at the beach and continuing into next week.

In addition, a weak tropical or sub-tropical low may form in the Gulf next week and help keep our rain chances higher.

We’ve never had a storm develop in the Gulf in April, and only six systems formed in April since we started keeping records.
