CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — SpaceX successfully made the first-ever launch of an already used rocket Thursday from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral.
The Falcon 9 rocket was retrieved after a previous successful launch.
The rocket will send a communications satellite into orbit after taking off from historic launch complex 39-A at Kennedy Space Center.
SpaceX officials said they’re hopeful that it will not be the last time that a used rocket booster is launched.
Reusing rockets will make space travel cheaper and open a world of possibilities, including space tourism, SpaceX said.
The rocket blasted off just after the launch window opened at 6:27 p.m.
